Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information Bilby Music Player collects when you use bilby.sale, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can get in touch about it. We are based in Queensland, Australia, and we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we sell to customers around the world, we also respect the privacy rights that apply where you live.

What we collect

When you place an order: your name, email address, delivery address, phone number, the items you bought, and your order history. Your payment card details go directly to our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.

When you contact us: your name, email address and whatever you write in the message.

When you browse: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and how you got here. We use cookies for the shopping cart, to remember your currency, and for anonymous analytics.

When you create an account: the details above, plus your login and saved addresses.

Why we collect it

  • To process and deliver your order, and to send you tracking and order updates.
  • To answer your questions and help with returns or warranty claims.
  • To detect and prevent fraud and to keep the site secure.
  • To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • To meet our legal obligations, such as tax and consumer law record keeping.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the services we need to run the store and deliver your order:

  • WooPayments (Stripe) — processes your payment. Stripe handles your card details under its own privacy policy and security standards.
  • Our manufacturing and fulfilment partner — the Bilby is made and dispatched by our manufacturer, and we place your order with them through the AliExpress platform. To deliver your parcel we pass on your name, delivery address, phone number and email address. This information is transferred to China and to the carrier that delivers to your country.
  • Delivery carriers — receive your name, address and phone number to deliver the parcel.
  • Hostinger — hosts this website and stores the data behind it.
  • Google — provides anonymous site analytics through Site Kit. You can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • WPForms — powers the contact form. Messages are stored on this site and emailed to us.
  • Meta and Google advertising — we use the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tags to measure whether our ads led to a sale, and to show ads to people who have visited the site. They collect your IP address, browser details and the pages you viewed. You can opt out of personalised ads in your Facebook and Google account settings.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.

Overseas disclosure

Because the Bilby is made and shipped from overseas, your delivery details are sent outside Australia. The main destinations are China (manufacturing and dispatch) and the United States (payment processing, hosting and analytics providers). We take reasonable steps to make sure those recipients handle your information carefully, but they are governed by the laws of their own countries.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for seven years to meet Australian tax and consumer law requirements. We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to help you, and then delete them. Analytics data is anonymised and kept in aggregate only. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; we will keep only the order records the law requires.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Payments are handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified processor. Access to order information is limited to the people who need it to fulfil your order. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever discover a breach that is likely to cause you serious harm we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for the cart and checkout, a cookie that remembers your chosen currency, and analytics cookies from Google. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout will not work without the necessary ones.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you also have the rights set out in the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Children

The Bilby is designed for children, but this website and our store are intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced on the site before they take effect.
