A Christmas gift for a kid who isn't getting a phone yet
They want their music. You’re not ready to hand over a phone. The Bilby sits in the gap: their own music player, with the songs they ask for and nothing you haven’t said yes to.
Order by Monday 23 November for Christmas delivery. Orders placed after Monday 30 November may not arrive in time.
The short version
Delivery
Most orders arrive in about 10 business days, but allow up to 24. Ordering by 23 November leaves room for Christmas post.
What you get
The Bilby, a USB-C cable and a plastic case. Shipping, duties and taxes are included. No subscription.
If it's not right
90 days to return it from delivery, for any reason, with free return shipping. Plenty of time after Christmas.
Who it suits
Kids about five and up who want their own music: the songs their friends know, the playlist from the car, an audiobook at bedtime. It’s a good fit if you already pay for Spotify, Apple Music or another streaming service, or have a folder of MP3s.
It’s not the right gift for a toddler. For under-fours, a Toniebox or Yoto is a better choice.
Have it ready on Christmas morning
- Charge it. About two hours over USB-C.
- Load some songs. Drag music across from your computer, or sign in to your streaming app and download a few playlists for offline.
- Lock it down. Install AppBlock and follow our setup guide so only the music apps show. It takes about ten minutes.
- Then wrap it. It ships straight from our manufacturing partner in the maker’s box, so it won’t arrive gift-wrapped.
Sending it to someone else
Buying for a grandchild, niece or nephew? Choose a different delivery address at checkout and it goes straight to them. Give the parents a heads-up that a parcel is coming.
Small extras that go with it
- A microSD card if they have a big music library or download lots of playlists.
- Wired headphones with a 3.5 mm plug. Cheap, tough, and no charging. Read how loud is too loud before you pick a pair.
- A Spotify or Apple Music family plan, if you don’t have one already.
